ASPiH 2025 - Simulation for Impact: culture, co-production, and creativity

The ASPiH 2025 Conference brought together over 1,000 participants from 26 countries across four continents, highlighting the Association’s growing international reach. Among them were 380 first-time delegates, warmly welcomed into the ASPiH community.
Over three days, delegates explored 120 hours of educational content shaped by a record 400 abstract submissions—a 15% increase from 2024. The programme featured 290 presentations, 35 hands-on workshops, and contributions from international keynote speakers. Their insights connected disciplines and cultures, inspiring reflection on how simulation can drive change in healthcare systems. Selected abstracts from the conference are published in JoHS: https://www.johs.org.uk/article/doi/10.54531/BTXW8919
The seven international keynote speakers provided both inspiration and challenge, connecting disciplines, cultures, and ideas. Dr Marvin Jansen opened the conference with Ubuntu, a powerful reminder that “I am because we are.” His keynote grounded the event in humanity and connection, setting a reflective tone that resonated throughout. Lise Brogaard’s presentation highlighted the role of presence, relational awareness, and team sense-making in improving maternal and perinatal care, while Professor Peter Dieckmann closed the conference by urging delegates to pause before “fixing” problems and to examine the deeper social dynamics shaping practice.
Themes of transformative simulation, collaboration, and shared purpose ran throughout the event, reinforcing a collective ambition for greater system-level impact.
ASPiH 2025 concluded with a renewed sense of coherence, ambition, and shared intentions. Delegates left Bournemouth not only inspired but ready to translate insights into action - strengthening the role of simulation as a driver of safety, learning, and improvement across healthcare.
